The Complete Guatemala Travel Guide
‹A visit to Livingston, on the Caribbean coast, will give you a taste of island life.
Home to the Garifuna people, descendants of shipwrecked African slaves who mixed with indigenous Carib people back in the 17th century.
The Garifuna will show off the best in tropical cuisine and music. Be sure to visit in November to catch Settlement Day, when the Garifuna celebrate their arrival to Livingston, and really let your dreads down!
Take a lazy cruise up or down the Rio Dulce and be wowed by the dramatic cliffs with a tropical twist. Visit the old Spanish fort, Castillo San Felipe, a historical landmark right on the river front.
From Rio Dulce be sure to visit the amazing hot spring water falls at Finca Paraiso, a 30 minute bus journey from the Rio Dulce bridge.

Just relax and enjoy the tropical heat and waterways all around.
