The Complete Koh Lanta Travel Guide

Getting Around
Thailand is inexpensive and easy to get around and Koh Lanta is no exception. Here are some budget friendly methods of transport to get you around the island or to different places in the region.
Koh Lanta...

Motorbike
A motorbike is by far the most popular way of getting around Lanta. You can pick one up for rental almost anywhere (around 250 THB per day), and now automatic scooters are commonplace and easy to ride.
Keep you eyes open, don’t ride drunk and always were a crash helmet. Follow these simple rules and stay out of hospital.
Tuk-Tuk (Taxi)
These unusal motorbike/sidecar combos will be seen going up and down the main Lanta road. Easy to hail and haggle a price to take you to your destination. These tend to be more expensive than a motorbike rental, so make sure to ask your price before you arrive at your destination.
It is also possible to rent these vehicles yourselves; a great way to travel if there are a few of you!

Bicycle
A more sedate yet healthier alternative to tour the Island would be to rent a bicycle. These are getting more and more popular and can be rented cheaply for a few hours or a full day.

Plane
There are many great cities to visit just a short hop on a plane from Krabi airport - why not enjoy a weekend in KL or Singapore? There are also daily flights to Bangkok, so you can see the Capital or make your long journey home a bit shorter. Air travel in Asai is surprisingly cheap and convienient.

Use Krabi as a hub to explore new places.

Boat
As Koh Lanta is a marine park of 52 Islands there are many reasons to jump on a boat! In addition, why not speed up your airport transfer, or take a trip further afield to Koh Phi Phi, Ao Nang, Phuket, Koh Lipe or even Langkawi. Not only can your journey be quicker, you get to enjoy the passing seascape.

Prices are cheaper than you think!

Bus
The bus is synonymous with travel in Thailand (& Asia). This effective and reasonable mode of transport is within everyone's reach to explore more of Southern Thailand. Buses run every hour to major towns such as Krabi or Ao Nang.

There is also daily service to Bangkok if needed.
